SSA Terminals, LLC Signs MOU with American Maglev Technology, Inc. To Develop Magnetic Levitation Cargo Conveyor System at Port of Long Beach |
The Environmental Mitigation & Mobility Initiative (EMMI) is a Southern California based company that will build, manage, and operate a multi –phase network transporting freight and passengers along elevated routes throughout the Greater Los Angeles Region. EMMI utilizes zero emission “green” magnetic levitation technology from GBA client, American Maglev Technology, Inc. Phase A of this project will connect the Long Beach-based ICTF, operated by Union Pacific Railroad, to up to five loading stations on Terminal Island. |
EMMI has proposed to complete a one mile “Port Project” within Phase A in order to mitigate the technology risk associated with the Project.

A minimum of 1,000 containers will be transported and processed daily through the ICTF. SSA Terminals, in their MOU dated March 14, 2008 committed to provide a minimum of 400 of these roundtrips when the project becomes operational. GBA President, Gus Hein and Carolyn Harris, Development Officer, CSULB recently completed a weeklong visit to Washington, DC to encourage some of our leading corporate citizens to support Veterans University - a collaborative between CSULB-CSUDH and the VA Healthcare System. The collaboration will expand opportunities for veterans to receive individual and family counseling, physical therapy, job training, and education. |
As a result of CSULB’s ongoing efforts on behalf of this nation’s veterans the Military Order of the Purple Heart informed the University they will receive a $100,000 grant for scholarships from the MOPH.
